If you haven’t checked out Equitable Place yet in the City for lunch, you’re missing out. It is such a small laneway just off Collins Street (near the corner of Elizabeth Street) and if you blink, you’ll miss it. It contains about 5 or 6 cute little lunch eateries, which are mostly takeaway (not much room to sit in a cramped laneway).
Brown Bagels is one of these cute little shops, run by just two bagel technicians at any one time, who make up simple and delicious combinations from fresh bagels and fresh ingredients.
Here we have my turkey bagel, which was nice and had the good cranberry and cream cheese combination.
E ordered Chicken on a seeded bagel (you have your choice of quite a few different types of bagel bread, as evidenced in this post) and N went with the smoked salmon (always a good combination). Most are $8.50, so well under that $10 lunch threshold.
It’s a good spot to get a good decent bagel lunch, but there isn’t anything revolutionary about them. If you want amazing bagels to cross town for, head to Manchester Press. If you want something quick and delish, give it a go. I’m sure I will be craving the blueberry cream cheese on a fruit bagel VERY soon. Maybe even today.
